About

In the early 1990s, Bugatti set out to make an unlikely comeback. The result was not only the spectacular EB110 supercar, but also one of Italy's most futuristic automotive factories.

Built in Campogalliano, near Modena, the factory was designed around the production of the EB110 and quickly became known for its distinctive blue buildings, extensive glass walls, and remarkably modern facilities. At a time when many car factories were decidedly industrial in appearance, this one looked almost like a piece of science fiction.

The ambitious revival was short-lived. Bugatti Automobili went bankrupt in 1995, leaving the factory behind along with an unfinished chapter in the history of the marque. The buildings subsequently spent years abandoned, their former production spaces gradually becoming a destination for urban explorers and photographers.

Today, the site offers a strange contrast: a place designed to represent the high-tech future of Italian supercars has become a monument to a company that lasted only a few years. Among the empty halls and weathered structures, it is still possible to glimpse the extraordinary ambition behind the EB110 project—and perhaps imagine what this place looked like when brand-new supercars were being assembled here.
