About

Although Salley's population has dwindled over the years, its nearly abandoned main strip still contains a sentiment of undeniable charm. Off to the side of the tiny town center looming in the woods is a massive, long-abandoned cotton gin.

Its old tin roof can be seen poking through the tall trees, and the entry is still visible on the left-hand side of the building. The rusty factory is a relic of the past with its old-school mechanics still on full display. The history of the factory is unknown. Considering its location in such a tiny, tucked-away town, its story likely lives only among an older generation of Salley residents.

As of an unknown date, a significant portion of the Mill has collapsed

The gin is located at the following cross streets: Cedar St & Duncan St SE in Salley, SC. It is visible from the street and easily accessible on its left-hand side.

As far as it is known, the property is simply abandoned. That said, please be respectful of the land and its surrounding area as there may be tenants nearby.   The location is best viewed from a safe distance. Do not tresspass.
