Bangers and Cash

The TV show, "Bangers and Cash", which originated on the "Yesterday" channel in the UK,  have now had 8 series. This "fly on the wall" documentary follows the life and times of the Mathewson classic car dealership and auction house in Thornton-le-Dale, near Pickering in North Yorkshire. The business started in 1970 (in Bedfordshire), as a pretty conventional car and van dealership, and moved to North Yorkshire in 1988. The private classic car collection evolved into  a classic car business and in 2019 they started work on the production of Bangers and Cash and both the programme and their business have gone from strength to strength.

Even if you are not attracted by the role of the site as a TV set the variety of classic cars and motorcycles (and much more) to view at the premises is amazing particularly on the days leading up to an auction (dates are available on the website).

Unfortunately the associated museum is currently closed but the Mathewsons website states that the company intends to reopen it as soon as possible. Meanwhile the showroom serves as a museum  with a regularly rotating set of exhibits.
