Unfortunately the hotel has closed, BUT the can is still there. A little faded but still there!   mickeybob2000 / Atlas Obscura User

About

Australia is home to more than just a couple of big things. The big country, it has been said, has a love of similarly-oversized objects. The Big Beer Can is only one of a loosely related set of about 150 sculptures and large structures sprinkled across the country. Most of these, the Big Beer Can included, serve as some of the country's top tourist traps and can be found along major roads and highways or between prominent travel destinations.

Located above the entrance to the Grand Hotel in Cobar, New South Wales, the Big Beer Can stands about five meters tall and is two-and-a-half meters across. Built in 1990, it immediately took the Guinness world record for the largest beer can anywhere in the world. Great product placement and advertising for Tooheys New, which is the brand displayed on the can.

The can, which is accessible at all times, is so large that, if filled with actual beer, it could hold about 22,000 liters.
