About

About 90 minutes drive west of the capital sits this imposing complex of swords commemorating David the Builder's (Georgian King David IV) victory over the Seljuk armies in a surprise attack on August 12, 1121.Unveiled in the early 1990s, the memorial now serves as the venue for the annual Didgoroba festival (which celebrates the anniversary of the battle) and is possibly the best location for a photoshoot if you're looking to rival the album covers of some heavy metal bands.

Know Before You Go

There's no public transport to the site but it can easily be reached by renting a car or hiring a driver. The route is scenic enough to warrant a full excursion to neighbouring towns such as Manglisi and Asureti.
