About
On display in the lobby of this Zurich police station are beautiful and colorful frescoes by Augusto Giacometti.
Giacometti, part of a large artistic family, painted them when the building was being converted to a police station from its former use as an orphanage. Most people don't visit a police station for the beauty of it, but the warmth of the color makes it a nice change to leave one with a smile on your face.
The hours are posted on the website but be prepared: If there is a police emergency you might not get in. For entrance all that is required is providing one ID from your group.
Know Before You Go
People will enter through the main door facing the river. They might need to be buzzed in, but usually, the door will open automatically. One person in the party will need to give an I.D. while they are in the building. Be flexible: If there is an emergency the lobby might be closed. It’s free to get in but check the site for times.
