Giant Scissors

Giant scissors seemingly stabbed into the side of a hair salon leave no question about the vocation of the owners.

About

If it's possible to whimsically stab, that's just what this utensil is doing, piercing the concrete flesh of a corner building home to the beauty corporation Wella and hair-care company Sebastian International. Like a layer created by a discerning stylist, the salon tool easily blends in with the rest of the edifice--maybe surprisingly so--and is all but lost at the adjacent intersection known nary to see a pedestrian. And while we're on the thought, let it be said that this piece of art is not, er, pedestrian in nature, for there is a humor about it, a nerve about it, that deserves but doesn't beg for admiration.

Update: As of 2/25/18, the scissors are no longer there. The metal bracket that held them is all that remains.
