About

Constructed in 1889 and associated with the famous Gooderham family's distillery, shipping, trains, and banking interest, as well as a hotel. Gooderham's office was located on the top floor right under the building's cupola.

The building is one of the most photographed structures in the city, the Gooderham Building is an iconic and historic structure situated at the wedge-shaped intersection of Wellington and Front Street in the heart of downtown Toronto. In 1957, the Gooderham estate sold the building.

In the late 1950s and early 1960s, the building came to symbolize the efforts of the opposition to urban renewal. In 1973, the Gooderham changed hands and underwent some restoration work as office space.

Michael and Anne Tippin bought the building and faithfully restored it in 1998.
