About

This small mountain has a hiking trail hidden on a small residential street. The mountain is made of banded iron formation, a type of rock that formed 2.1 billion years ago, which makes it some of the oldest rock on Earth.

The iron mines in this area have extracted most of the banded iron, but this landmark has been spared. A similar piece of banded iron can be seen on the campus of the Michigan State University.
