Although this building was erected in 1914, it wasn’t much to look at until poet Victor di Suvero came up with the idea of a tile mosaic of Lady Liberty. The building owners were immigrants from Iran and loved the idea of honoring America. The 50-foot tile mural was completed in 1987 to commemorate the 100-year anniversary of the Statue of Liberty.
The full title of the mural is “Lady Liberty Facing West.” The work was done by Barbara Beall Studio which has created works of art for such famous places as Epcot and the Autry Museum.
