Land of the Warres

On a wall in Cleveland, Ohio find the story of a highly connected fictional community of organisms that created remarkable, lasting structures.

Kcymaerxthaere is an art project created by Eames Demetrios. A series of plaques and other markers around the world honor events that have taken place in a parallel universe that, according to Demetrios, “co-exists to some degree with ours.” Most of these installations are bronze or stone plaques inscribed with stories but some are larger, even entire buildings. As of 2021, there are more than 140 sites spread across six continents and 30 countries.

Kcymaerxthaere’s creatures without metabolism have provoked a great deal of interest in the biological research communities. It turns out there quite a few type of creatures very similar to warres, whose structures come across almost like a form of terrestrial coral. Indeed, though they did not have a metabolism, they did have many physical characteristics visible in the our traditional spectra of dimensions. At the other extremes, there were very different creatures like Agogatlovs whose only character in common is this lack of metabolism.

When you visit this marker in midtown Cleveland, you are some distance from the Lake, but you will notice that there are numerous spectacular unused buildings as you get closer to the lake. It is a matter of some speculation as to whether some of these were built upon the husks of the Warres.
