About
Locals swear by this iconic breakfast and lunch spot for its cozy charm and seriously tasty comfort cuisine. If the place looks like a blast from the past, that’s because it is: The diner dates back to 1948 and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
It’s one of 1,500 prefabricated “Silk City Diners” in the country, which all date back to the same era and Paterson, New Jersey-based manufacturer. About the unusual “o” spelling of “Dinor”: It’s a charming quirk of Northwestern Pennsylvania that you’ll find on many diners in the region of that era. It might have been a nod to German, or a typo—nobody knows for sure.
With its friendly wait staff and charming mid-20th century design (think: tin metal roof, curved porcelain ceiling, blue and beige tiles), the Lawrence Park Dinor whisks you to simpler times. Claim one of the 16 stools at the counter for the full experience, or slide into a cozy booth across the way. The menu is old-school, in the best possible way with hearty breakfast and lunch favorites, including fresh, never-frozen, smash-style burgers.
The eatery is famous not only for its cream cheese-topped Grilled Cinnamon Roll but also for its Greek Fries, generously topped with a Mediterranean-spiced ground beef gravy. Don't skip dessert: The Peanut Butter Pie, salty-creamy and topped with generous dollops of whipped cream, is Pennsylvania-famous.
