About
Monkey Rock is a granite boulder carved to resemble a monkey, giving this aptly named landmark its cheeky personality. While the rock naturally resembles a primate, a local is said to have enhanced its features with careful carving. It is made out of a white granite boulder, and sits off to the right of the lookout. It over looks Crystal Bay and Incline Village, and has spectacular scenic views
The hike to reach Monkey Rock is an out-and-back trail of 2.6 miles with a 498-foot elevation gain. Moderate in difficulty, it rewards visitors with both the quirky sculpture and sweeping scenery.
