Niel Gow Statue

The Niel Gow Statue is a striking life-size bronze sculpture of Niel Gow, an 18th-century Scottish fiddler. Often regarded as the 'father of Scottish fiddle music', he was born in the Dunkeld area and his connection to the region makes the statue both a local landmark and a point of cultural pride.

The statue was erected in December 2020 and was created by Scottish sculptor David Annand. It sits at the road junction between Dunkeld and the small neighbouring village of Birnam.

The sculpture acts as a focal point for the Niel Gow Festival, an annual celebration of traditional Scottish music which attracts visitors from afar.
