About
Nestled in Flensburg's old town is a thoroughfare street called Norderstraße. Lined with hipster cafes, alternative art galleries and with a proud Danish minority, it is a great place to see an edgier side of Flensburg.
Walking down Norderstraße or "North Street", you'd be forgiven for not looking at your feet. Above your head, you'll find hundreds of shoes hanging from lines. Known as "shoefiti," a cross between shoe and graffiti, the art piece has been in place since 2015.
But if you look down, you'll start to notice some feline friends. Hidden in plain sight are a collection of cats, all in different poses. Expect to see a pirate, a little one wearing a fetching feather boa and another having a close encounter. Each of the works of art are adorned with the initials "NM."
Much like a moggie Banksy, NM is an artist that decorates the street under the cover of darkness to remain anonymous.
To follow the footsteps of the felines throughout Norderstraße, visitors can take part in an interactive "cat rally," answer a quiz, and learn more about the neighborhood and the secretive artist.
