About

Despite being called the Paul Bunyan Logging Camp Museum, this living museum in Eau Claire, Wisconsin has very little to do with fantasy and everything to do with preserved historical structures.

Greeted by the oversize fiberglass statues of Paul Bunyan and his ever-present companion, Babe, the blue ox, guests to the logging museum may have visions of flumes, shooting galleries, and other fun-loving theme museum attractions. However at the Paul Bunyan Logging Camp Museum, the fun is all in the history. Spread across a number of expertly recreated buildings the museum brings the world of 1890's logging to life. Some of the period accurate locations include a bunkhouse, a blacksmith's shop, a cook's shanty, and a heavy equipment shed. Each building contains actual artifacts and items from the era. The museum has been in operation since 1934 and continues to draw families and school trips to this day, but despite the unspoken wishes of many guests, the playful spirit of Paul Bunyan is usually left at the door.
