About
The Phono Museum in Pigalle near Montmartre is an audiophile's dream. Its extensive collection of gramophones, record players, and musical equipment will take you on a journey from the birth of sound recording through decades of musical technology.
The best part, and what makes this place worth the cost of admission, is that everything works, from Thomas Edison-era wax cylinders to more recent equipment. The lovely owner may personally walk you through his collection and demonstrate each and every piece you want to hear, including a massive pink gramophone from the dancehall era.
You can hear the music exactly how stylish Parisians of 100 years ago would have heard it. And make sure to say hi to Cookie (the dog).
