About
This 15th-century granite well house still contains a well basin of clear water that is reputed to cure the lame, the blind and the insane. Unfortunately, a metal grating prevents you from immersing yourself and washing away these ailments today, but there is still lots to admire, including a rather stern, robed figure keeping its 500-year-old eyes on things. St Cleer presumably. As the only well house with an open porch-like design in Cornwall, remarkably, it has survived amidst modern housing
A granite wayside cross of the same era stands just a few yards away, adding another historic touchpoint to this enduring site.
