About
The Surabaya Submarine Monument (Monkasel) is a historic landmark located in the heart of Surabaya, Indonesia.
The submarine is located next to Plaza Surabaya shopping mall. This former Soviet submarine, known as KRI Pasopati (410), served in the Indonesian Navy during the Cold War era before being decommissioned and transformed into a museum.
Now permanently docked on land, the submarine offers visitors a unique opportunity to explore its narrow corridors, torpedo rooms, and living quarters, providing insight into the life of submariners and Indonesia’s naval history.
The museum was officially opened on June 27, 1998.
