About

The Tara originally opened in 1968 as a 1000 seat movie palace. It was subsequently divided into several theaters and eventually closed in 2022 by decision of Regal entertainment. By 2023, members of the community had come together and reopened the theater.

It features a revamped concession stand that looks much like it would have in the 60s, vintage preview ads for concessions, and many antique projection items to see.  It is truly a step back to the golden age of cinema.

Specializing in arthouse, independent, and classic films, the Tara is home to thought-provoking cinema. It also hosts numerous special events and film festivals throughout the year.
