When you are looking for a special meal in one of the world's most multicultural and eclectic cities, being spoilt for choice can be a paralyzing affair capable of putting a fork through a first date before you've even begun.
Step in the team behind Tramshed, winner of Time Out's much vaunted Best Meat Restaurant award 2012. They strip to the bone the complicated and needless luxury of 'choice' and present a simple binary: you're having chicken, or you're having steak.
A lesser restaurant may have a hard time getting away with it, but the man in charge is none other than Mark Hix, lauded local celebrity chef, restaurateur and art collector. He has adorned the space with an original piece from his mate Damien Hirst – Cock and Bull. The sculpture is a take on his classic vitrines, placing a cockerel atop a Hereford cow in a steel and glass tank filled with formaldehyde. The imposing duo hovers perilously above daring foodies while they eat. Clearly installed with a wicked sense of humor, the idiosyncratic Hirst piece was specially created for the opening and delivers a rather immediate sense of what's for dinner.
