About
On November 25, 2013, Ripley México presented the recognition to Tlanepantla municipality for presenting the largest tortilla in the world. It was 3 meters in diameter and weighed 120 kilos; but it was not made to be eaten that day, but to be mounted on a fiberglass structure and sculpted on it.
The sculptures were made by art teacher Enrique Ramos from corn dough and represent everything that Mexico means. When the 450 microminiatures were finished and placed on the tortilla, it ended up weighing 400 kilos.
There appear the monument to the revolution, characters from Mexican cinema, indigenous people doing traditional dances, typical food, pre-Hispanic masks, Mexican toys, historical figures and hundreds of references hidden one above the other.
As if it were a treasure hunt, a drunkard of pulque, the Nobel Prize winner for literature Octavio Paz, the Christmas piñatas and iconographies of the murals by Siqueiros and Rivera appear. Nothing better than a giant tortilla to show everything that Mexico can be.
Not for nothing the phrase says that we are "hijos del maíz / children of corn"
