About
Tucked deep within a hidden valley of ancient limestone caves, the Yarrangobilly Caves Thermal Pool shimmers like a secret oasis. Surrounded by towering gum trees and sheer cliffs, the crystal-clear waters stay at a constant 27°C year-round, fed by a natural spring. Steam often curls across the surface on cooler days, giving the spot a magical, almost enchanted feel. A short bushwalk leads here through the bushlands of Kosciuszko National Park, where visitors can slip into the warm pool, float beneath the open sky, and feel as if they’ve stumbled into nature’s own spa.
Know Before You Go
The Yarrangobilly Caves Thermal Pool is tucked off the Snowy Mountains Highway between Tumut and Cooma, near the Yarrangobilly Caves entrance. From the carpark, it’s about a 700-meter walk down a steep track—remember you’ll need to climb back up, so wear good shoes. An accessible route via a locked gate can be arranged with NSW National Parks. Bring drinking water, towels, and maybe a picnic—there’s a grassy area by the pool and lots of birdlife around. And don’t forget: the caves nearby are incredible too, so it’s worth making a full day of it.
