About

Grotesque, fantastical, delirious conversions of ordinary cars into everything from yachts to rockets to double-decker hearses straight out of the darkest Gothic nightmare. Art Car World in Douglas, Arizona, opened to the public in 2023, but it's been decades in the making.

Owner Harrod Blank is one of the personalities driving the art car movement. He presents his cars all around the world and has helped organize an art car camp at Burning Man. Not all of the cars at the museum are his own creations, though. Blank has collected works created by other car-tists and given them a place where they would be safe from the elements and their unique beauty preserved for others to appreciate.

One is covered completely in stained glass and mosaic, completely in metal objects of mind-boggling diversity, and hiding 48 working but completely original music boxes. Some are covered completely in litter picked up from the roadside yet made artistically whole. The variety and quality is mind-boggling.
