About

Borden's Condensed Milk Factory was built in 1884 on 1,500 acres and employed hundreds of workers who also lived on the grounds. With a railroad running through the back (now a rail trail through neighboring towns), it supplied condensed milk to New York City and surrounding areas.

The condensary was designed to process the milk of some 5,000 cows from nearby farms. Today, Borden Dairy continues to bring goods to our grocery stores, most noticeable by their mascot "Elsie" the cow.
