About

The mountains of Killington, Vermont, are full of secret surprises. Among the abandoned trails, man-made forest routes, and natural feature terrain parks a small rustic shelter sits underneath the Killington Peak, open to anyone and everyone all year round.

Known as Cooper's Cabin, it is frequented by hikers looking to catch a few hours of sleep while hiking across the Appalachian Trail, skiers in need of a place to rest their feet when cruising down the slopes, or teenage locals in search of a party spot.

While it lacks in quintessential cozy snow-lodge amenities such as heat, power, or even a pillow and a blanket, this concealed shelter has most of the necessities to get you through a night on the mountain. Inside the cabin it is simple and unaffected, furnished only with a long picnic table facing a stretch of open windows on one side and two sets of wooden bunk-bed style sleeping platforms on the other.

Though there may not be a warm fireplace to sit around and drink some hot cocoa, but its antiquated modesty and practical outdoor accommodations makes for not only a prime little shelter but also an alluring treasure along the picturesque mountainside landscape.
