About
Eliza was erected in 2007 in Matilda Bay to commemorate the nearby Crawley Baths, a Perth landmark of the first half of the 20th century. She was sculpted by local artists Tony and Ben Jones, who are responsible for several other iconic Perth sculptures and art installations.
She is named after Mount Eliza, the hill in Kings Park which she faces. Her location along busy Mounts Bay Road and proximity to the city centre, Kings Park, and the University of Western Australia has made her a local icon. Locals and visitors driving or walking along Matilda Bay will often see her dressed up for special occasions, holidays, or sport events.
