About

Construction on the fort began during the late 17th-century.  It's believed that it took two years just to lay the first foundations. Fort de la Conchée remained a military outpost until 1900. During World War II, German forces used the island fortress for target practices causing serious damages. to the batteries. Since 1989, the structure has undergone relentless renovations and restoration.
