In 1921, Rudolph Carpenter of Lititz, Pennsylvania, created this towering, one-of-a-kind clock which is composed of 50,000 individual pieces of wood.
A total of 20 different species of wood were used to create this marvel of timekeeping, which include walnut, pine, white holly, ebony, cherry, rose, and mahogany, among others. The interworkings inside are also made of wood. Very fine details can be seen throughout, right down to teeny tiny eyelashes.
This clock, along with a similar clock made of 35,000 individual pieces of wood by the same creator can be seen at the Lititz Historical Foundation.
