About
Across the older areas of Pune, one can find several heritage Wadas. These vintage mansions, made of wood and stone, have defined the historical and cultural fabric of the city over the centuries. Today, some of them have been turned into museums and conduct heritage walks while some still continue to function as residences and are a unique world of their own.
In one such heritage Wada, one can enjoy a delicious Vada Pav in the midst of the old-world setting. Heavy, old-fashioned doors with lots of latches and bolts, cozy central courtyards, creaky, rickety staircases leading to mysterious rooms on the upper floors, artistic windows and lots of fascinating corridors going everywhere.
The history of Nighojkar Wada goes back to 1920 when it was bought by Mr. Dinkar Nighojkar. He rented out one portion of his Wada for weddings and other functions. Later, it was rented out for theatre rehearsals. Many legendary artists have visited this Wada over the years. In recent times, the current owners of the Wada have started this food service where patrons can enjoy the snacks in the Wada’s vintage courtyard.
They serve Vada Pav and other popular snacks during the evening.
Know Before You Go
