About

Bonaventure Island is located in the Gulf of St. Lawrence, right off the coast of the Gaspe peninsula. During the summer months, gannets flock to the island to nest, along with various other bird species such as auks and cormorants. The island is believed to be home to the largest gannet colony in the world.

Tours to Bonaventura are available, as the island is an attractive tourist destination. Once on the island, it's about a mile hike to reach the famed colony. Gannets are among the largest of all the seabirds with a wingspan just over six feet.
