About

This museum was established in the 1990s by Eugenia Mitchell, an 80-year-old resident of Golden, Colorado. This mid-country pioneer and cowboy hot spot at the edge of the Rocky Mountains was a perfect place to start collecting and cataloging heirlooms.

Around 900 quilts and 7,500 library items make up the public collection of the Rocky Mountain Quilt Museum (RMQM). Contemporary, mid-century, colonial, folk art and more styles are displayed in rotating exhibits.

Slightly off the beaten Denver path, the RMQM is an unexpected art museum captivating for quilters and strangers to the art of pieced fabric. Education programs, artist talks, helpful volunteers, and a gift shop to take it all home make this little museum a must-see.
