Scottish Football Association Mosaic

Situated on the front step of a large townhouse on Park Gardens, this mosaic is part of Scottish football history.

The mosaic depicts the badge and marks the entrance to the former headquarters of the Scottish Football Association (SFA). The organization was based out of this location for 44 years. The SFA eventually relocated to the refurbished Hampden Park in 2000. 

The association’s roots date back to the 1860s, when football began to grow in popularity around the country. However, there was no central organization. Eventually, the Glasgow based club, Queen’s Park banded with several other clubs to create the SFA. 

Many important decisions were made inside this building regarding Scottish football. A multitude of committees and famous faces met here over the years. The great, the good, and the bad have marched up these imposing, intimidating stairs to receive their sentences from the stern officials of the SFA. 

As one of the fancier areas of Glasgow, visiting the mosaic also provides an opportunity to see a large number of other beautiful old townhouses. The views across Glasgow from here are superb. It’s an area steeped in rich history.
