About
Built in 1968, the Tai On Building is a 28-storey behemoth containing close to 1900 individual dwellings. In addition to being the aging Sai Wan Ho district's most imposing landmark, the building's dingy and dated arcade, crammed full of food stalls, is renowned as one of the city's best food hubs.
Hong Kong/Cantonese-style eats are most prevalent, with classic local snacks like curry fish balls, rice noodle rolls, egg waffles, and cart noodles available in abundance. Many regional Chinese and Asian cuisines are also represented, as well as some western-style outlets.
The close proximity and reasonable prices of the stalls allow visitors to sample a variety of different cuisines. With many of them staying open until or even past midnight, the arcade remains a food destination and hive of activity well into the wee hours.
