Tivoli’s Astounding Magic Supply Co. isn’t your typical magic supply shop. It stocks everything from cards and capes to items like Stage Fright Antidotes, Canned Laughter, and Thin Air!

The storefront supports 826DC, a chapter of 826 National that is a writing and tutoring non-profit developed by the creators of McSweeney’s literary journal. All proceeds from Tivoli’s Astounding Magic Supply Co. help 826DC make real magic happen in the writing center just behind the secret door in the wall! More than 3,000 students take free writing workshops with 826DC every year, both here and in schools across the District.

Don’t miss the Clairvoyant Vending Machine, where you can get your fortune told for 50 cents, and keep an eye out for the disappearing rabbit. Tivoli’s Astounding Magic Supply Co. may be a small storefront, but it’s jam-packed with little details and delights that make for excellent exploring—whether it’s your first time in the space or your fiftieth. 

Know Before You Go

The main entrance is on Park Road, between the Z Burger and Giant. Love magic, but not stairs? No problem. There is a wheelchair-accessible entrance around the corner, on 14th Street.
