About

When you see this museum from the street, you might assume that it's a little one-room operation, but you couldn't be more wrong! Two Rivers is truly bigger on the inside, in a way that makes everyone remark, "It just keeps going...!" And this museum is jam packed with local history, but it's also brimming with all sorts of oddities. Ever seen a working player piano? How about art made entirely from hair? Or a working loom, with a talking dummy? Ever used a water pump? Or looked at photographs using the first 3D image technology? How about crouching through the entrance to a cedar plank house? Two Rivers has all that and SO MUCH more.

Part of what makes this museum so special is that it's a heritage museum, which means it tells the story of the surrounding area (the towns of Camas and Washougal specifically). That local history starts with Native Americans history, and the history of the settlers, and the history of the three big industries that helped these towns grow (prunes and paper and Pendelton), and goes all the way up to the present day. I recommend asking for a tour, as the docents each have their own stories to tell of living in the Camas-Washougal area!

Two Rivers Heritage Museum is open every Saturday from Noon to 4:00pm, from March through October. Admission is only $5 for adults, $4 for seniors, $2 for students, and free for children under 5 (as well as members of the Camas Washougal Historical Society). As a bonus, they are right across the parking lot from Pendelton Woolen Mills, a still working mill that you can also tour, with it's own huge factory outlet store.
