Christopher "Captain Red" Redman is the founder and Executive Director of Expedition Audacity Research Foundation (EAR), a Canadian and U.S. registered nonprofit dedicated to ocean research, exploration, education, and conservation.
Red spent 12 years in emergency services as a firefighter, paramedic, and emergency management investigator before an on-the-job injury forced him into early retirement. He later built a second career in the film industry, working as a stunt performer, stunt coordinator, special effects coordinator, producer, and documentary filmmaker on feature films, television productions, and documentaries.
Today he brings those experiences together as an expedition leader, combining scientific research, storytelling, and exploration to help people better understand the ocean and the communities connected to it. While not a scientist himself, Red is passionate about creating opportunities for the next generation of researchers, believing that one of the most important roles of an expedition is to provide young scientists with the experience, mentorship, and platform to pursue their own discoveries.
Through Expedition Audacity, he is leading the development of the "Space Station of the Sea," a long-term research and education platform designed to support marine science, hydrographic mapping, documentary filmmaking, and environmental education around the world.
His writing explores the intersection of history, exploration, science, and conservation, with a particular interest in the stories that connect people to the sea. Whether investigating forgotten places, documenting endangered wildlife, or following expeditions into remote regions, he believes that curiosity is the beginning of every great adventure.
