I’ve been drawn to cookbooks for as long as I can remember—they were my first teachers and a gateway into the world of food. From early inspiration watching PBS chefs to learning mise en place, timing, and patience from recipe pages, each dish carried a story. Those early experiments—successes and failures alike—sparked a lifelong pursuit of mastery, rooted in both technique and meaning. Today, while I’m proud to be an industry-trained chef, baker, and culinary leader, my true passion remains connecting people to memory, culture, and history through food.
My journey has taken me from Northern California kitchens to New York bakeries, Los Angeles hotel operations, and beyond—building businesses, leading teams, competing on national television, and eventually opening my own artisan bakery. Along the way, I’ve blended classical European technique with a deep appreciation for local agriculture and heritage. Today, I work across the foodservice industry while developing a passion project: An ancestral cookbook tracing my family’s path from Portugal and the Azores to California. It’s a tribute to where I come from—and a reflection of where food can take us.
