Since its conception Las Vegas has been a tourism hotspot. It's full of five-star hotels, incredible food options, and any kind of entertainment you could possibly imagine (and some you probably couldn't). On my recent trip, I looked to Atlas Obscura for a bevy of interesting stops to sprinkle throughout my days (when the weather was often over 110 degrees).

1. Omega Mart at Area 15. This interactive art installation makes it feel like you've been transported into another dimension--or perhaps planet. As you wander through the Omega Mart grocery store, you're encouraged to discover its secrets by interacting with the mutated products--finding secret passageways, terminals, and hidden easter eggs there to help you unlock the deeper story of Area 15.

A sneak peek at Omega Mart 2. The Las Vegas Strip Benchmarks. There's a lot to see when walking along the strip, but don't forget to look down. These inlaid metal symbols are a part of the city's history. And to geography/geology nerds like me, they are perfectly placed to give you the opportunity to point them out to your friends alongside a fun fact.
3. The Flamingo Habitat. Depending where you're staying, you may see the benchmarks on the way, but the flamingos are worth a detour. In a gorgeous oasis surrounded by their namesake casino, the flamingos go about their day. The vibrant birds seem unbothered by the bustling around them, and their greenery offers much needed shade to them and you!

4. Art-o-mat. These are essentially vending machines for art! They contain everything from jewelry to small paintings, sketches, and stickers. You'll see them interspersed throughout various casinos, and their offerings are often priced as low as $10. They are a unique souvenir from a trip done right.
