About
Perched on a bluff in Maine with a panoramic view of the sea and, some say, the spirit world, Temple Heights Spiritual Camp has been channeling more than just ocean breezes since 1882.
The camp was founded in 1882 by Benjamin Colson, affectionately known as “Dr. Ben,” said to be under the guidance of the spirit of an Indigenous chief named Nickawa, of a South American tribe.
Here, you can catch a message from Aunt Edna and a lobster roll in the same afternoon. Equal parts seaside retreat and spiritual hotline to the beyond, this quirky camp hosts mediumship readings, healing circles, and Sunday services with an open invitation to the dearly departed.
It’s like summer camp if your bunkmates also included the occasional Victorian ghost.

Review the website to see the schedule on what’s happening at the camp when you want to visit. It will have a list of workshops, events, and who the visiting mediums and healers are for the week as well when services are scheduled. If you want to book a room, give them a call ahead of time to reserve a spot. Parking is located either in front of the lodge, or up the small side road to the left of the lodge.
