I’m an epidemiologist, disease ecologist, and geographer interested in how health, environment, history, and human movement intersect—especially in remote and borderland regions. My work has taken me from the Thailand–Myanmar border and the Salween River to Laos, Ethiopia, and California’s desert landscapes. I’m particularly drawn to old maps, overlooked histories, unusual landscapes, and places where the past remains visible in the present.
