As the news that the planet had lost Prince, 57, tributes across the world came in Thursday, highlighted in part by the purple lighting of roads, highways, and landmarks worldwide.

It really was a global phenomenon. In Australia, the Melbourne Arts Centre was to be lit up in purple and as was the largest music venue in Scotland.

Elsewhere, Brooklyn Borough Hall went purple.

And the Zakim Bridge in Boston.

And the Terminal Tower in Cleveland.

Of course, around Minnesota, tributes were everywhere, including the Interstate 35 bridge in Minneapolis.

As well as Target Field in Minneapolis.

On the West Coast, Morrison Bridge in Portland, Oregon was scheduled to go purple, as was San Francisco City Hall.

Los Angeles City Hall also got in on it.

Seattle’s Great Wheel looked lovely in purple.

The West Virginia Building in Huntington, West Virginia, also and the High Roller in Las Vegas.

But beware bad info: The Empire State Building might look purple on Twitter, but it doesn’t appear to be real. And not every tribute was planned for Prince. Probably the craziest example was the fact that Niagara Falls went purple today—but for Queen Elizabeth’s birthday.

New York City held multiple celebrations of Prince’s life, with, of course, creative types targeting a certain subway station.

But no Prince tribute is more appropriate than, of course, a musical one. Enjoy what the casts of Hamilton and The Color Purple whipped up today in honor of Minnesota’s resident genius.
