Constructed over 150 years ago, Barn Attic's unassuming exterior announces little of the experience awaiting all who step inside. It began as The Barn Auction, a joint venture between Mary Lou Richards and her father, Marvin Knechel. But in the early 1970s, Richards began building what is now a four-story marvel, attracting visitors from all over the world.
The Barn Attic is far more than just another vintage and antique shop. Sitting side by side with the abundance of items that typically fill the shelves of similar shops are truly unique, one-of-a-kind gems. From furniture, finger puppets, jewelry, and jumpsuits—to tools and taxidermied animals, the variety inside is unlike few others housed under one roof.
Items around the shop are meticulously organized, the range of animal-related collectibles alone is breathtaking. The employees are extremely helpful. They recommend bizarre items to take home and they track down specific objects. There's even an inventory that isn't out in the open, which is hard to imagine considering how much is on display.

Know Before You Go
Not open on Sundays. Hours change weekly, so call daily or check their website or social media pages first. The building is not climate-controlled, so in extreme weather (if they're open) they recommend visitors dress appropriately. You may bring in bottled water, but be aware that there are no restroom facilities; the gas station next door on the corner and other nearby businesses will allow you to use theirs.
