Boy Scout Memorial

The innocent intentions of this monument are somewhat lost in the sculpture's muscled imagery.

About

Walking near the White House, across from the Department of Commerce, there's a monument to the Boy Scouts, comprised of three bronze figures: a scout, a naked man, and a lady in a toga. While the image of a hulking, shirtless man following on the heels of a young boy is undeniably a little uncomfortable, the statue was installed in 1964, having been commissioned by President Lyndon B. Johnson to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the Boy Scouts of America.
