About

The Merrill Lock No. 6 complex entered service in 1904. It was replaced by the Montgomery Lock in 1936.

Lock No. 6 is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and is a fine example of Romanesque architecture. A popular restaurant opened there in 2000, but it has been closed since 2012. The site is now abandoned. It is occasionally used by riverboat companies for crew changes.
