Tucked alongside a road lined with beautiful homes and magnificent views in the Riviera neighborhood high above Santa Barbara is a wall of nonliving frogs.
These frog sculptures, paintings, and other objects are made of wood, plastic, cotton, metal, and other materials, and are painted or dyed in a wide variety of colors. Most are the same size as a common frog, a few are larger and some are smaller.
According to local history, a plastic frog appeared in 1989 at this location, and over the following 30 years, neighbors and visitors to the area added their own frogs to the wall. The frogs are waist or chest high and are easily viewed while on foot.
Please be respectful when visiting. Making your own froggy offering is an excellent way to contribute to the specialness of the shrine.

Know Before You Go
This is a place best visited on foot. The street is very narrow and parking is extremely limited. If you have to drive, park at the Santa Barbara Mission and walk up past the old reservoirs and then along the beautiful streets to this location.
