He runs Snack Stack, a curiosity-filled newsletter about the cultural history of snacks around the world. He is also the author of The Not-Quite States of America, a travelogue about the U.S. territories (W.W. Norton, 2017), which Smithsonian named one of the top ten travel books of the year.
