About
There are many famous and historically significant trees out there, often attributed to something happening in that location or someone planting it.
This tree is no different in that regard, attributed to 18th-century Swedish king Karl XII. Where this gets odd, though, is the reason why this tree is known as Karl XII's tree. Allegedly, this is because the king relieved himself at the tree when passing the area once. Locals saw it and the rest was history.
The tree is still there after three centuries, now a mighty oak along a hillside road. In recent years, the oak has appeared in local and national media for this reason after it was found by Gunnar Klasson for his historical blog. Images from the 50s and before existed, but the exact location has been lost for a while.
Know Before You Go
Just follow the Google Maps directions, you can't miss the oak. It is the biggest thing there.
