About

This sculpture consists of four elements of white painted steel that are arranged in a circle, thus creating a cocoon-like structure.

The structure catches sounds and resonates them inside the structure, creating an interesting soundscape. Visitors can also vibrate the steel plates to create an eerie metallic sound. One of the elements in this sculpture is a megaphone that visitors can use to listen to the sounds created and modified by the sculpture.

Work on this sound sculpture started in 1977, but the structure has changed in many ways over the years and it was finally opened in 1985. It was created by artists Gillian White and Albert Siegenthaler.
